Roshan Rashaili

Roshan Rashaili

Caste: Brahmin caste, as is our second Roshan

Status : Aged 23, he is the youngest of seven children, which he admits sometimes has its good and sometimes its bad sides. He is married and is currently expecting his first baby

Hobby : He enjoys to go to the temple with his wife. He loves to play the mahdal, which is a two-headed cylinder shaped drum from Nepal. It is a traditional folk instrument made by the women and used mainly for dancing. Dancers play these drums while they dance and are then called Mahdalay (men) and Maruni (women). He used to perform regularly in his village with friends in “Rodigars”, which could be described as traditional discotheques where you have live music and go dancing. In Kathmandu he still plays the mahdal on special occasions together with friends, like on Nepali New Year which is coming up soon

Education : He went to school till he was 14 and came to Kathmandu with his brothers

Career : He learned stitching by assisting a tailor. Later Roshan became a student of our patternmaster Raju for two years , who he admits is a very good teacher. He does most of the fine stitch work at JUX since three months.

Background: Like patternmaster Nabeen, Roshan grew up in the jungles of Janakpur. Janakpur is famous for its temples and the numerous ponds which carry religious importance

Favorite clothing: As a personal assistant to Raju and a specialist in tailored jackets, so his favorite clothing is obviously a suit
