Summer sale in pop-up store Rotterdam

Fashionistas pay attention! Summer is in full swing and we all love to browse through the city for sale. Yesterday a temporal pop-up store in Rotterdam opened its doors to sell unique and self-made items. Such unique products you can rarely find if you go shopping. The target is to let you smile and leave with a lot of special items in your bag. It is an inititative of Geek de Musik, which is part of the colourful webshop Geek de Chique. It´s so chique to be a geek!

JUX is also selling its summer stock there, so if you want to make your bargain buy go and get your unique piece!

You can find the pop-up store at the West-Kruiskade in Rotterdam.

Studio JUX in De Pers

De Pers wrote an article about Fair Fashion in its column “De betere wereld”. It is about how technique improves fair fashion and that it offers a better choice to consumers. They also mention the different Fair Fashion Events in which Studio JUX also participated. De Pers says if you wanna be one step ahead, Fair Fashion makes it happen. You not only do good, you also look stylish and hip.

Carlien got interviewd for earthcharter.nl during the spring summer 2011 shoot. Earthcharter is a declaration in which a number of ethical principles stand together. These are required to realise a sustainable, peaceful and fair worldwide community. Earthcharter started portraiting inspring examples to let people see how you can apply sustainabilty in real life. Studio JUX at the Dutch Environmental Film Festival

Also this year Strawberry Earth organizes the Dutch Environmental Film Festival (DEFF), an annual platform for the best international, environmental films and documentaries.
Each year DEFF screens major international and national premieres, hosts inspirational speakers and creative green organization, and organises memorable festival parties with talent from the European DJ and live music scene.
DEFF is the only major international film festival in the world that uses 100% of all money raised to make the screening venues eco friendlier. Moreover, DEFF has grown to become one of Europe’s premier environmental film festivals.
June 3 and 5 DEFF takes place at Studio K in Amsterdam and June 4 in Lantaren Venster, Rotterdam.

June 4 and 5 JUX will also be there and we will present our new accessory line. So are you curious?

Studio JUX at Frisgroen in Zwolle

On May 16 Studio JUX went to Zwolle to be part of the green lifestyle event Frisgroen . The event was organized in the poppodium of Hedon in Zwolle. You could see different fashion acts on the catwalk, among them Studio JUX with its spring/summer collection 2010. The models showed the collections of different fashion labels and during their perfomances they were accompanied by live music. Besides Studio JUX spring/summer collection, we showed the newly introduced ‘Stoere Vrouwen’ collection. This collection is designed for the Stoere Vrouwen organisation, who promotes shopping to improve the world. You as a consumer can make a difference by what you buy. Studio JUX in Die Zeit Germany

In the Grüner Leben column of Die Zeit is an article about the recycling of polyester and how it can be used for fashion. Only in 2009 there were 1.4 million tones of PET collected in Europe. Basically there are two ways of recycling polyester. There is a chemical way in which new fibers are produced out of polyesterfashion. Or you can recycle old PET-bottles and turn it into yarn. The good thing is, that fashion from polyester yarn can be reused again and again. By now almost the half of the collected PET bottles is turned into fibers. Die Zeit also writes about our collection from recycled polyester, they say it feels like silk. Zeit says it right, plastic bottles at your body become trendy!

So watch out for the next season!

Forms, fabrics and colours for SS11

Lately there is a great vibe in the factory in Kathmandu, Nepal.

Since this week there even seems to be more electricity! The electricity cuts are less then 8 hours per day, which is amazing compared to 16 hours no electricity some weeks ago. Since 1, 5 months, I fully focus on the new spring summer 2011 collection and on the FW1011 production. For SS11, I’m looking for the best balance between form, fabric and colour. The tailors already started to develop all the samples in raw cotton, to see exactly how the pieces fit. I will make the last improvements on the sizing together with the tailors, before they start working with the actual fabrics!

Everybody in the factory is getting enthusiastic and curious about the new collection. Developing new pieces is always great and excting! Within the next 4 weeks, all the final samples for the new JUX SS11 collection will be finished.

JUX will present the new collection at the beginning of July 2010. So check out the sneak preview pics and stay curious!
