Why fashion should be fun
Fashion is fun. In particular for fashionistas but also for the shy guy who gets a compliment from the girl he fancies. Fashion gives you confidence, an outfit gives you a social identity. This week, I’ll go to a wedding and all guests are communicating about the best outfit. I see tweets, I hear people talk about it. It’s fun to dress up and feel good.
Fashion is fun for you and me as consumers. I think the purple Indian guy, who’s body has the same color as the fabric he just painted, isn’t much into fashion. Nor is the girl in China Blue, a movie about a jeans manufacturer in China. She lives with 12 other girls in one small room, gets no sleep and no free time.
As you probably know, my brand is called studio JUX. JUX is a German word for fun. According to JUX, fashion should be fun: for you as a consumer, for us as a brand and for the suppliers in Asia. That’s why JUX is member of Clean & Unique and Fair Wear Foundation.
So be a fashionista, love design and be conscious. I admit, it’s not easy. The fast fashion of H&M and Zara is tempting. I have difficulties buying 100% sustainable. For instance, where do I find sustainable tights? I’m still searching for the best addresses to buy a 100% good.
Some tips from me:
- Yuga in Haarlem is a lovely shop with sustainable fashion.
- watMooi is a good webshop.
